Cultural Events

ChathamArts coordinates a wide variety of enjoyable and educational cultural events, including ClydeFEST and the Annual Fall Music Concert.

ClydeFEST

ClydeFEST is an annual outdoor kids festival honoring Clyde Jones, an award-winning, self-taught folk artist living in Bynum. His chainsaw "critters" have been exhibited all over the world. Though they are not for sale, Jones sometimes gives away critters to friends or to causes he believes in... his artwork can be seen in the yards of mill houses in historic Bynum, at local eateries, and in the gardens of the Governor’s Mansion in Raleigh, North Carolina. Learn more.

Fall Music Concert

The Annual Fall Music Concert celebrates Chatham County's rich musical traditions, and showcases our local musical talent.

In 2011, we'll celebrate the 40th Anniversary Concert of the Chatham County-based Bluegrass Experience at the historic Fearrington Barn. Current members of the band are featured in this very special music evening, including Michael Aldridge, "Fiddlin' Al" McCanless, Thomas L. "Snuffy" Smith", Stan Brown and Tommy Edwards. Typically, former band members such as Jimmy Cameron, Keith Thomas, and Leroy Savage re-join the band. Customarily, a Master of Ceremonies with literary or historical ties hosts.  Learn more.
