ChathamArts Gallery’s September show features India ink drawings and watercolors by Florence Johnson, three-dimensional creations by Roger Person, and hand-crafted jewelry by the mother-son team of Lyla and Brandon Shumate.

Artist receptions take place on Sunday Sept. 2 from 12 noon to 5, when Pittsboro galleries, shops and eateries will be open for First Sunday, and Saturday Sept. 22 from 11 to 5.

Johnson’s work is inspired by her extensive travels and photos. She usually draws with India ink and finishes with watercolors.

The Shumates create custom jewelry using wire, silver clay and fused glass. They share a studio at the N.C. Arts Incubator in Siler City.

Person began exploring art after an accident left him a paraplegic in a wheelchair. He creates inspiring and amusing sculptures from glass, paint, metal and clay in his 8,000 square foot studio. He and his wife Linda own Person to Person Gallery in Siler City.

ChathamArts Gallery exhibits and sells a range of original works by local artists, Tuesdays-Saturdays 11 to 5 and every First Sunday 12 noon to 5, 121 Hillsboro Street, Pittsboro, 919-542-4144.
