ruthI lead a double life as a psychotherapist and potter. Both of my occupations require me to embark on a journey with the person or pot in front of me and I never know what new gems will be revealed or what questions will be asked of me. As a psychotherapist, it is my goal to help my clients navigate the convergence of life's extraordinary opportunities and frustrations while making the changes they have decided to make in their lives.

As a potter, my goal is to express the surprising convergence of functional, funky and elegant, while utilizing the capacity of clay to accommodate extraordinary machinations, prods, and pulls. I respond to the clay by making wheel thrown pots that are often altered, paddled or stamped and occasionally hand built. I use earth toned, layered glazes and slips that respond serendipitously to atmospheric firing. Ultimately, with my pottery I want people to have pots in their homes that they find beautiful and that can be used in their everyday lives.
