In 2003 my son and I took up welding under the mentorship of Bill Flinn. From 2005 through 2009 I have studied Blacksmithing at CCCC under the direction of Lucas House. My first metal shop was in the driveway of your home in downtown Chapel Hill. We moved to Chatham County in 2004 where I was able build a real shop. I like the process of working with metal and the strength and “fluidness” of steel. Recently I have incorporated stone and glass into my work. I feel that steel, stone and glass all compliment each other. My wife and I are avid gardeners and much of my work is based on natural themes and is meant to be enjoyed out of doors. Function is as important as form in much of my work. I have recently semi-retired form the health care field and now have more time to develop my artistic skills. I have really been inspired by the openness and generosity of the artist community in Chatham County and I look forward to becoming more a part of it in the coming years.
