Kim Werfel, Pastel Artist
Kim Werfel is an artist and teacher who creates pastel portraits of people and animals that convey a sensitivity to her subject’s personalities as well as capturing their likeness. Although the medium of pastel best expresses the soft , impressionistic colors inherent in her portrait work, she also paints in acrylics and oils.
Her paintings have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout North Carolina. Commissioned portraits are held in New York, California, Florida, Nevada, North Carolina and Virginia. You can find her work with the Pastel Society of North Carolina’s exhibits, the Fine Art League of Cary’s exhibits and in Pittsboro’s downtown Chatham Arts Gallery.
Kim has her B.F.A. degree in Advertising Design from New York Institute of Technology, Old Westbury, NY and her M.S. in Art Education from L.I. University, C.W. Post Campus, Brookville, NY.
Ms. Werfel is a former Wake County art teacher and long-time advertising production coordinator for Time, Sports Illustrated and People Magazines, NYC, NY.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, she now resides in Pittsboro, NC with her husband Eric and her beloved bichon frise, Summer.
