Aud Ackerman, Polymer Clay Artist
I was born in Norway and have had a life long interest in colors, textures, patterns and shapes, perhaps hightened by exposure to the colorful knitting patterns native to Norway.
The medium I have chosen to work with, polymer clay, is a wonderful material for making jewelry. It lends itself to countless expressions of all of the above elements, limited only by the creative talent of the artist.I have a degree in history of art and first learned about polymer clay while reading Nan Roche’s seminal book, The New Clay.
I am a founding member of Capital Area Polymer Clay Guild and have taken workshops with nationally know polymer clay artists like Nan Roche, Donna Kato, Dan Cormier, Sarah Shriver and many others.My jewelry has been sold at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington NC. I am currently selling my pieces at Chatham Arts Gallery in Pittsboro and NC Arts Incubator, Siler City, as well as in trunk shows and to private collectors.
